Welcome to the Ramona Page

The Ramona Shrine Club was organized under the jurisdiction of the El Bekal Shrine in the city of Hemet, California in 1954 under the guidance of Noble James Simpson, 33 as the first President. The Club was founded for the purpose of promoting fraternal sociability among the residents of the San Jacinto Valley, and to provide a means of assisting in the functions and purposes of the Shrine. The name of Ramona was selected from the name of one of the lead characters in the now famous Ramona Pageant which had its beginning in 1923 and is held annually and is based on the novel "Ramona" by Helen Hunt Jackson. The Club numbers approximately 150 and its popularity is enhanced by the women's club known as the "Shrinettes", whose officers and board members can be wives of men who are the Shrine Club's officers and board.

The Board of Directors consists of a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, immediate Past President, Chaplain and six (6) directors.

The initiation fee to join the Ramona Shrine Club, or the Shrinettes, is $5.00 and the annual dues is $10.00 (Shrinettes is $7.00). We hold dinner meetings with the ladies, usally on the 4th Saturday of each month at the Hemet Masonic Lodge #615, 150 Laursen Street, Hemet, CA 92544. Social hour starts at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. The fourth Saturday may vary on special occasions. We are usually dark during the hot months of July and August.

The Ramona Shrine Club was named "Shrine Club of the Year" in 1993.

The Club accepts Shriners and their wives from all Shrines as members. To Join, contact any member of the Ramona Shrine Club, email contacts listed herein, or call the Shrine office for the phone number of any officer.
